Flower Deliveries

Anybody home? You've got a flower delivery
Posted Sunday, January 29, 2006 3:27:41 PM by Kate Grant

Even as a little kid, I was fascinated by the International flower delivery service (Interflora) logo. Flower deliveryI used to love looking at the sticker, on the door of the flower shop my mother used to buy flowers at, of this gracefully running courier, holding a bouquet of flowers.

I almost wanted to be a grownup already, so I can get a flower delivery myself... Millions of fresh flowers are delivered daily all over the world. You can sit comfortably at your house in New York, and send flowers to your cousin's birthday in Cambridge, England.

Nothing could be easier. It became so much more convenient to send flowers to even faraway countries, and today, with the option of even doing it online, there are no excuses...

Flower delivery companies also let you send many things other than flowers, like gifts, suitable for every occasion, chocolates, fruit, plants, wine, or,if you still want to send flowers, they'll send the vase along with them...

The only things is, sending flowers does not come cheap. But if you search some of the flower shops offering such a delivery, you might find some real bargains and discount, so don't be lazy, and you will save some of your hard earned cash.

Save your plants from the deep freeze

Well, I would guess that we are rapidly making up for all the days that the oil man didn't make any deliveries, but spring is on its way. It may be moving slowly, but it will always show up. It is interesting to watch how plants react to cold weather. Take a look at your rhododendrons. The leaves will be curled up in very cold weather. The leaves are shivering. The leaves curl up to lessen the amount of leaf surface that is exposed to the cold weather. When the weather warms up, the leaves will unfold again. Perennials can be lifted up out of the ground by the freezing of the soil. If the roots get exposed, then there may be damage to them. This is the reason that you should mulch perennial beds in the late fall. The cold and dry air can damage many plants....

Adopt value-improving ideas

Business concepts are only as good as your ability to apply them to your own situation. How many good ideas have you been exposed to that your organisation still doesn?t use? Since business model innovation is too important to suffer that fate, let?s begin our exploration of business model innovation secrets by looking at greater benefits at the same price and cost. If you company?s management already agreed it had a good idea for an improved business model, you would probably be working on implementing that idea. Ask most people to think about what a better business model than the current one would look like, and they draw an initial mental blank. The resulting blank stare you see is all the evidence you need that the company?s business model innovation slate is empty. How can you move beyond what you know you should do to create new ideas for better business models? Let?s start by simplifying the task....

Businesses say Valley Avenue project impedes customers

WINCHESTER — On Valley Avenue, construction barrels dot the sides of the roadway. Pits of gravel line the driveways to some of the businesses. Rough pavement has been laid on parts of the street. The Valley Avenue improvement project — which includes widening and repaving the roadway, adding curbs and gutters, and painting lanes and directional lines — probably won’t be finished until spring. Workers at some businesses on the street say the construction project has been a headache — for them and their customers. The employees and their managers say the construction has not caused a specific drop in sales or business. But it does lead to complaints from customers. "Some days it can be a pain in the butt," said Brenda Davis, assistant manager at Dollar General, 2824 Valley Ave....

Martha Stewart dishes the scoop on dirt

Martha Stewart has delivered unto us useful, tasteful lessons about virtually every aspect of our domestic lives for nearly a quarter of a century. In print and cyberspace, on radio and television, she has preached the gospel of clothes keeping, pet tending, wedding planning, flower arranging, glue gunning, meal prepping, flea marketing and silver polishing. One might think she'd have nothing more to say on such subjects. And yet, the proselytizing continues, as her latest book - she has penned more than two dozen in what promises to be an endless bibliography - makes abundantly clear. "Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook" enters the world with a whopping first printing of 500,000. (By way of perspective: A book is considered successful if it sells 50,000 or more.) Bestseller-dom would be a good thing, given that Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia reported a $25.2 million loss for the third quarter that ended Sept....

Orcas Island offers a healing isolation

They are back again this morning. The two fawns inch their way to our front porch, munching the greenery along the path. Their mother, an Appaloosa-colored doe, follows a few feet behind, fully aware of the two humans peeking out the front window of the Isle Dream cottage. The blacktail deer of the San Juan Islands have no natural predator, so this family shows no fear claiming our flower bed as a personal cafeteria. My husband, Gary, slowly opens the door and snaps a photo. The doe lifts her head and shoots him a look of utter disdain (another tourist!). To them, we are just the latest occupants of the fairy-tale cabin overlooking the East Sound of Orcas Island. The one-room cottage, about the size of a two-car garage, sits on a slope of fir forest in central Orcas, one of 450 islands that make up the San Juan archipelago....
